LWE Griffins faced an uphill battle all game, having not led on the scoreboard until the final goal.  Griffins
dominated on the shot tally with 26 shots to 15 for Brother Rice, but they went down 1-0 in the early part of
the game only to be followed by another BR goal to make it 2-0. The end of the first saw the Griffins down
2-1 while working out the early kinks.  Second period slanted the ice in the right direction as the Griffins
came out and tied the game, only to go back down by a goal, and then tie the game again.  At  the end of 2
periods it was 3-3 hockey game.  With just four minutes into the third period BR notched a goal to take the
lead again. As minutes ticked off the clock, the BR goalie was getting a good deal of rubber taste as he
made save after save. With less than 2 minutes remaining, BR took only their 2nd penalty of a total of 3
penalties in the game, and the Griffin shad a power play chance to bring the game even and force OT. With
less than 30 seconds on the clock, goaltender Jim Degrado sped to the bench and the 6-on-4 began!
Seconds slid off the clock, until the puck snuck past the BR goalie and forced OT.  Within the first minute, a
top shelf backhand ended the season for BR and LWE moves to face Naperville Central, who eliminated
the Sandburg Eagles.
